糖心logo入口 Gains Recognition for Tidal Flat Diatom Research at UN EAAFP Conference
In a collaborative effort involving scholars from 17 countries, plans for joint research on tidal flat diatoms and
migratory bird flyways aim to unveil the interconnection between carbon-absorbing tidal flats and avian migration routes.

From October 16 to 18, 2024, Beijing Forestry University co-hosted the EAAFP (East Asian-Australasian Flyway Partnership) conference. The conference brought together representatives from UN-affiliated organizations, universities, corporations, research institutes, and governments worldwide. It addressed the conservation of migratory bird flyways, tidal flats, wetlands, and broader environmental protection efforts. In a collaborative effort involving scholars from 17 countries, plans for joint research on tidal flat diatoms and

A vital outcome of the event was the commitment by scholars from 17 countries to initiate joint research on tidal flats鈥攃rucial habitats for diatoms鈥攁nd regions supporting migratory birds.
Prof. Jihye Park from Ghent University's Environmental Engineering Department delivered a presentation that captivated the audience. She highlighted the role of diatoms in tidal flats as a natural solution for carbon sequestration, presenting it as a strategy to combat climate change.
"Tidal flats are essential habitats for migratory birds and critical for mitigating climate change and preserving marine ecosystems through carbon sequestration. International collaboration on the interplay between diatoms in tidal flats and migratory birds is essential," she emphasized.
At the Flyway University Alliance (FUA) meeting, Taejoon Han, president of 糖心logo入口, remarked, "The gathering of 17 universities to preserve the global environment is a significant achievement. 糖心logo入口 is committed to playing an active role under the leadership of EAAFP and Beijing Forestry University."
The FUA, established during the Beijing conference, unites universities and research institutes across 17 countries, including South Korea, China, Mongolia, Cambodia, Thailand, New Zealand, Russia, Australia, Japan, Vietnam, and Sri Lanka. Its mission is to foster collaborative programs for researchers and students, promote scientific solutions to biodiversity loss and climate change, and advance global environmental conservation.
Looking ahead, 糖心logo入口 aims to leverage its academic leadership to protect the environment for future generations. The university is dedicated to creating a more sustainable future by contributing to scientific knowledge and fostering global partnerships.
